This recipe calls for homemade jalapeño simple syrup - but don't let that step deter you from making this sweet and spicy cocktail. Using a mezcal brings a smoky flavor to the drink, but you can always use your tequila of choice!
Jalapeño Paloma
Ingredients for the Jalapeño Simple Syrup:
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
2 jalapeños, corsely chopped
Ingredients:
2 ounces jalapeño simple syrup
1 ounces fresh lime juice
4 ounces mezcal
4 ounces grapefruit juice
4 ounces club soda
Rim with Cowboy Caviar Infused Salt or Habanero and Red Pepper Infused Salt
Garnish: fresh grapefruit wedge and jalapeños
Directions for Simple Syrup:
Combine all the ingredients in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature, about 15 mins. Strain and reserve.
Directions:
Rim your glass or bottle by swirling a lime wedge around the top of your glass or bottle, then spin the rim in a bowl or plate of your Rimmer.
Combine all the simple syrup, lime juice, mezcal and grapefruit juice over ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously and pour into two rimmed glasses.
Top with club soda.
Garnish with a fresh grapefruit wedge and jalapeño slices.
Serve it up and enjoy it!
